Favorite Place, Favorite Fish

Hi there, I’m Geoffrey Page––“Page” to all my friends––and I’ve lived in Sarasota, Florida, my entire life, which means I know the waters from Tampa Bay to Charlotte Harbor almost as well as the reds, tarpon and snook do.

Two questions people ask me all the time (besides where and when are the fish biting): Where’s your favorite place to fish and what’s your favorite species to fish for? The first one is easy: Louisiana! It’s a sportsman’s paradise. The second is trickier. I’m happy no matter what species jumps my line, but if I have to pick just one it would be pompano. Why? Because they’re not always around!

My Ideal Day

My company is Artifish-All Guide Services. I’ve been guiding full-time since 1999, and specialize in inshore, backcountry and beach near shore. To me, the perfect day is teaching folks about saltwater fishing––especially fall or winter backcountry fishing with artificials like jigs, crank baits or spinners. I love it! Fish seem to as well.

Tournament Fishing

Tournaments have been a big part of my life since 2001. I’m a regular on the Professional Redfish circuit fishing in the IFA and Florida Pro tours, and have won first place finish along with at least 20 top 10 finishes. Plus, I was Grand Champion of CCA’s All-Release challenge three times! My go-to boat is a 23-ft. Pathfinder HPS Tournament powered with a Yamaha SHO V-Max 250.

I’d like to give a shout-out to my sponsors: Economy Bait & Tackle here in Sarasota, Live Target, Lowrance, Maverick Boat Company, Minn Kota, Okuma, Power Pole, Power Pro, Saltwater Assassin and Yamaha. Thank you!

On the Personal Side

When I’m not fishing, I’m either working on my house or sleeping. I have a teenage son, Noah, and my 86-year-old mom lives close by.

Two organizations I support for their conservation and research efforts are CCA, of which I am a Life Member, and Mote Marine Laboratory. I’m also involved with Sherrifs Youth Ranch for its youth outreach.

I’ve been providing weekly regional reports to Capt. Rick Murphy on Florida Insider Fishing Report since Day 1. Rick is the hardest-working man I know and my best friend who I love a lot!!! It’s an honor to be on his show.
